The Bhutan Foundation’s Food Security initiatives have seen remarkable progress over the years. From training farmers in climate-smart and organic farming techniques to providing modern farming equipment, our programs have empowered local communities to become more resilient to food supply disruptions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our projects helped mitigate food shortages, supplying vegetables, fruits, and cereals to frontline workers and households facing lockdowns. Currently, we are focusing on expanding mechanization, strengthening irrigation systems, and increasing the diversification of crops to ensure sustainable food production.
43.5% of Bhutan’s population is employed in the agricultural sector.
