March 27, 2017
From April 3 till 5, 2017, the College of Science and Technology (CST) under the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) will lead a three-day international conference on ‘Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development and Design’ at the Royal University of Bhutan’s convention center in Thimphu.
The conference is a joint effort between CST, the Karuna Foundation and the Bhutan Foundation with an overall objective to provide opportunity for academicians from RUB, scholars and researchers from other relevant agencies to disseminate their research findings to both national and international audience on renewable energy and high performance building and design. The conference also aims to establish network and linkages with the renewable & sustainable energy development experts from around the world.
The conference would accommodate around 400 participants, which includes 44 national and international presenters, 200 students from the CST and representatives from relevant stakeholders in Bhutan. Of the total 44 presenters, 29 are international speakers from the United States, India, Spain, Netherlands, Japan, Thailand, Nepal and Bangladesh, and 15 are Bhutanese presenters.
The conference is expected to enhance research capability of the CST in the renewable energy field, in particular strengthen the knowledge of students and provide an excellent opportunity for the college to network with researchers from outside Bhutan and initiate collaborative research. In addition, CST will be introducing ‘Masters of Engineering in Renewable Energy’ beginning from July 2017, therefore, the conference serves as an excellent opportunity to explore international partnerships for delivery of the program.
The Bhutan Foundation is happy to partner with CST and the Karuna Foundation in our continued effort to build local capacity and establish institutional linkages between the United States and Bhutan. We wish the team from CST best of luck during the conference and keenly look forward to participate in the conference.
