The Bhutan Foundation Communications Officer is responsible for planning, producing, and overseeing the execution of marketing and communication strategies including media, publications, website, and all communication materials. This includes developing and publishing materials to deliver the organization’s message to donors and the public. The Communications Officer will also oversee and assist with the organization and coordination of conferences, meetings, and events that promote awareness of Bhutan and the Bhutan Foundation.
Manage the development, production, and distribution of promotional materials for the Foundation, such as annual report, spring update, e-newsletters, brochures etc.
Manage the Foundation’s website and social media communications.
Develop, produce, and run marketing campaigns for online fundraising.
Write and distribute press releases and other media communications.
Be responsible for ensuring accuracy in information and proofreading.
Analyze marketing and communications programs and make recommendations to adjust strategy and tactics to increase effectiveness.
Coordinate and run both online (virtual) and in-person events hosted by the Foundation
Conduct research, make site visits, and find resources to help staff make decisions about event possibilities.
Coordinate on-site arrangements for all events and meetings: event space, vendors, food and beverage, audiovisual equipment, decor, etc.
Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree. Preferably in marketing, communications, or relevant field.
Must have employment authorization for employment in the US.
Minimum 2 years’ work experience in marketing/communications.
Ability to use DonorPerfect, constant contact or similar software to create and send emails, newsletters, etc.
Ability to use wordpress (or similar website management system)
Graphic design skills: Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, piktochart etc.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and in teams.

Ensure all donors are properly receipted for their contributions.
Make sure all donations are deposited into the Bhutan Foundation bank accounts in an appropriate and timely manner.
Draft donor tax receipts, and thank you cards and upon approval send by mail.
Record all donations in the monthly deposit report for review and approval by the Director of Programs and Operations.
Make sure all donations, deposit records, and donor correspondence are scanned, filed in the donor file, and donor database.
Enter all prospective, received, and pledged donations in the donor database and precisely track gift detail.
Analyze donor data and conduct research on donor profiles to assist with donor cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship.
Develop donor mailing lists for year-end mailing, spring mailing, annual report mailings, and events for the Foundation.
Assist with event planning, including coordinating logistics, managing RSVPs, and preparing materials.
Provide support to the team, including scheduling meetings, phone calls, travel arrangements, and event coordination.
Email and correspondences: Responsible for providing customer service for the general Bhutan Foundation office phone and emails.
Procurement of office supplies and monitor office inventory.
Create and/or provide assistance to the team on meeting presentations, reports, and related documents.
Education: Bachelor’s degree.
Must have employment authorization for employment in the US.
Minimum 2 years’ work experience in related administrative/development position.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and comfort with technology. Knowledge of donor database preferred.
Detail-oriented with strong organization, time management, and follow-up skills.
Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and desire to take on new challenges.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and in teams.
