Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why donate cryptocurrency?
When you donate crypto to a registered charity, you do not recognize capital gains from the donation and can deduct it from your taxes. In other words, donating your crypto can often reduce your tax burden. Would you rather donate to the IRS or your favorite cause?
Can I donate anonymously and still get a tax receipt?
With us, you can. We have an option for donors to submit only an email in order to receive an automatic tax receipt. This option is not supported by all of our nonprofits, but most of them allow anonymous donations!
Why donate Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies through The Giving Block?
Two words – cryptocurrency adoption. Our goal is not only to set up nonprofits to accept cryptocurrency donations but for them to talk about crypto, driving adoption. When you support one of our nonprofits, you support a nonprofit that is vocal about crypto.
Can I donate Bitcoin?
Yes. Instead of selling your Bitcoin and donating the after-tax proceeds, you can donate your Bitcoin and other cryptos directly to charities and other nonprofits, which means your tax deduction will be the same as the market value of the donation.

What is The Giving Block’s donation refund policy?
All cryptocurrency donations made via The Giving Block are nonrefundable. Our nonprofit clients work hard to ensure that every token that is donated is put to work as soon as possible. When they receive your donation it is understood that this is made to support their mission and they are grateful for your support. As these donations are often immediately converted into fiat, we do not offer refunds on any donations that are made in cryptocurrency. We are not able give refunds if you changed your mind, sent the wrong cryptocurrency or made the wrong decision.
The Giving Block does not, has not, and will never offer any form of cryptocurrency airdrop, goods or services in return for a donation.
