Today marks the world’s 10th International Tiger Day as well as 10 years of partnership between the Bhutan Foundation and the Bhutan Tiger Center, under the Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS)!
For the past decade, we’ve been working together to protect Bhutan’s mountain tigers by promoting conservation education, anti-poaching, and tiger monitoring research in the region. To celebrate the impacts we’ve made through our partnerships and the incredible power of the species itself, we came together to celebrate “Community and Tigers”.
During the celebration, we launched a children’s book about tigers entitled “Who Am I?” as well as a Tiger and Cattle board game that will be distributed to schools in Bhutan. These fun educational tools are part of our long-term awareness program initiated in collaboration with the BTC.
The event, which also commemorated the 40th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The King, was graced by Dasho Dzongda, the Director of DoFPS, and attended by sector heads, as well as local government and park officials, supporters, and the communities of Nubi Gewog.
As part of this celebration, we’re happy to share a message from Dr. Tshering Tempa, the Head of BTC on this important day.
