The Patsheling Gewog in Tsirang and Bartsham Gewog in Trashigang witnessed a transformative initiative aimed at empowering home-based workers. Over six impactful days, 40 women engaged in a training program organized by the Serchok Women’s Group, designed to equip them with essential business skills and innovative strategies to elevate their agro-business ventures.
The training covered crucial aspects of entrepreneurship, focusing on marketing management, strategic pricing, branding, supply chain efficiency, and value chain optimization. Participants learned how to streamline their production processes, ensuring profitability and sustainability in their enterprises. Through interactive methodologies like pictorial presentations, role-playing, and group discussions, the training fostered active engagement, enabling attendees to grasp the interconnected elements of running a successful business.
A standout achievement of the program was the development of strong brand identities for the participants’ products. By learning to differentiate their offerings in competitive markets, the women are now better positioned to attract and retain loyal customers. Additionally, insights into pricing strategies empowered them to set competitive yet profitable price points that balance market demand with production costs. Enhanced marketing techniques further enabled participants to effectively target specific customer segments, ensuring their agro-products reach broader markets.
The training also highlighted supply chain management, teaching participants how to source raw materials efficiently, reduce costs, and maintain consistent product availability. This deeper understanding of the value chain inspired innovation and process improvement, boosting their competitiveness in the agro-business sector.
Participants expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Bhutan Foundation for supporting this training, emphasizing its transformative impact on their entrepreneurial journeys. The skills they acquired will enable them to scale their agro-businesses, particularly in supplying surplus vegetables and other products to local markets. The training also strengthened their collaboration with the Serchok Women’s Group, fostering a spirit of community and teamwork that is expected to drive sustained growth in their ventures, directly benefiting their families and the local economy.
The program concluded with a certificate ceremony, where local leaders encouraged participants to apply their newfound knowledge in practical scenarios. They emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration and innovation, confident that these women are now equipped to create lasting positive change within their communities. By building on the skills and knowledge gained from this training, the women of Patsheling and Bartsham are set to make significant strides in their agricultural ventures, contributing to a more resilient and prosperous local economy.
